Encautic painting on wood: 12"x12"
 
Encautic painting involves painting with damar resin (from pine trees) pigments, and beeswax. The medium is heated on a hot palate, and applied in thin layers to the panel or wood. Each layer is fused with a torch or heatgun. 
 
This piece in particular includes recycled netting embedded into the wax. A variety of texture is added by carving into the wax. 
 
"Ocean Rhythms" is an abstract, colorful depiction of the movements of the currents and life under the sea.
